Lighting and colour

Lighting and colour is a convention that can help created mood and understanding within music videos. It can also help with providing a particular atmosphere in a music video which is why it is important we plan it as we want our music video to have a maximum emotional effect on our audience.

Lighting:

Example 1:
The lighting in this music video is low key with a under lighting highlighting the star in the video so all eyes are on her. The lighting represents the her isolation from the world in her own world where she can be by herself alone. We would like to use something similar when Our female star is lip syncing her parts of the song. This is because it goes with the message we are trying to put across about the problems that young people have in their everyday life and how they feel isolated and alone with no one to help.

Example 2:
The lighting is this video is natural and low key to make it a little dark and also make it look very real and natural. The lighting used is showing how dark a relationship can be but also how natural and real it can be. We would like to use something similar when our couple is on screen to show the darkness and the realness of their relationship. This is because we are showing the problems people have in relationships but also how good they can be and the way they make people feel.

Colour:

Example 1:
The colour in this video is either very bright and colourful or black and white these colours represent how goo the person she is singing about is to her but also how bad the person is. We would like to use something similar for our couple to show how good they are for each other but also how bad just like in the video above. This because we are showing the good side and bad side of their relationship and how much of a struggle it is for the couple.

Example 2:
The colour in this music video is Dark and rainy this colour represents the darkness of the relationship that he was in that he sings about. We would like to use this colour when showing both our narratives to show the darkness of the relationship and the darkness of being bullied. This is because our videos whole purpose is to show people what they are going through and raise awareness about suicide.
