Examples of adverts:
Example 1:

Lighting and colour:
The advert has very natural lighting with very light colours to show innocence and naturalness of the artist. It also makes her look very glamorous as the light is coming from above her which supports Dyer's theory of enhancing 'Star image'. This is conventional to the genre because it consists of calm and peaceful sounds which is complimented by the colours. This builds a neutral and calming response and relationship from the audience.

Main image:
The main Image is showing the artist clearly to the audience to show a lot of star image which gives the artist a lot of publicity and exposure to the audience. This then relates to Dyers theory of enhancing 'Star image' again as the advert has the star front and centre to give her a lot of publicity to the audience. This is conventional to the genre because as their is a lot of star image shown to give the star more exposure. This builds a greater understanding between the star and the audience as they learn more about the star and who they are.

Layout:
The layout is simple  but stands out to the audience as you can see the title of the album and the star and they are the main things that need to be put across to the audience to give her as much publicity as possible.

Typography:
The typography was simple and bold using bright colours to make sure that the viewer can see it and it stands out.

Information:
All the necessary information is shown on the advert such as the album name , when it will be released, key singles and the artists name.

Artist representation:
The artist is represented as very glamorous and posh to show the audience what kind of artist she is and what ideals she has so they will understand he better.

Example 2:

Lighting and colour:
The whole advert is very bright and stands out very well to the viewer of the advert as it uses very bright colours.

Main image:
The main image shows the artists clearly to the audience to ensure she gets a lot of publicity to her audience this is clear use of star image.

Layout:
The layout is very simple and easy to understand showing the artists image clearly in the centre of the advert and the information right under her picture.

Typography:
The typography is very detailed and bold so it is easily visible and stands out to the audience so they will not miss the information on the advert.

Ancillary drafts: Advert

Why was the drafting process beneficial to my group and I?
The drafting process was beneficial to my group and I because it enabled us to get feedback on our ancillary products to ensure that we ended with the best product possible to ensure that we get the best grade that I could get.
Advert draft 1:

Advantages:
- Like the typography.
- Theme portrayed is relevant and clear.
- Use of colour is good.

Disadvantages:
- Artist image and representation not clear.
-  key info missing.
- Put 'download' ideas together.
- All ancillary need to be consistent.

Advert draft 2:

Advantages:
- Image is abstract  which causes a good artist representation.
- Good consistency in terms of the use of conventions.
- Typography chosen well.

Disadvantages:
- Explicit content looks like  it is where you download it from.
- Move 'babylon' song so it doesnt go on the artists image.
- Can you make the artist a little bigger to enhance her image.

For our final product, we needed to ensure that our advert we change the position of the parental guidance tag is, Reposition the song Babylon so it does not go on the artist image and make the image of the artist a little bigger to make her stand out more.

Ancillary drafts: Digipak

Why was the drafting process beneficial to my group and I?
The drafting process was beneficial to my group and I because it enabled us to get feedback on our ancillary products to ensure that we ended with the best product possible to ensure that we get the best grade that I could get.
Digipak draft 1:

Advantages:
- Colour scheme works.
- Inside image has good star image.

Disadvantages:
- Artist and album name needs to be more clear.
- Back missing key info.
- Inside CD a bit odd looking.
- All needs to be consistent.

Digipak draft 2:

Advantages:
- Good consistency in images and connections.
- Good consistency with advert idea.
- Like the way the tracks are written.

Disadvantages:
- Give inside image same affect as the inside.
- Front looks like a pink affect and back looks like a blue affect.
- Back missing production details
- Look to do something more basic with the CD insert, abit of artist overload at the moment.

For our final product, we needed to ensure that our digipak that all images looked the same with the same affect to ensure that the product is consistent. Provide our production details on the back. And make the CD insert simpler as their is a overload of our star on the digipak.

Evaluation question 3: What have I learnt from my audience feedback?

What have you learnt from audience feedback?

When planning my music video we had to create a questionnaire to get an idea of what our target audience want out of our music video. This was done to help give us ideas of what will make out music video successful as it is what our target audience want out of the music video.

  15. What themes do you like in a music video?
[Love] [Friendship] [Everyday life situations] [Sex] [Party]

16. Is notion of looking important?

[Yes] [No]

Above is my questionnaire and the questions that I asked to my target audience.

After we got the results for the questionnaire we created graphs from the results of the questions to give us a better clear view of percentage of people that wanted the most chosen answer.

This question was very important as it showed us what type of music video people prefer the results show most people prefer performance based music videos closely followed by narrative. From this we decided it would be a good idea to a music video that had a narrative but had performance as if we can pull this off people will enjoy it allot as they are the both most popular answers.

The question above was important as it showed us if people like a music that is true to life or not and helped us decide on our narrative. The results show allot more people enjoy true to life music videos compared not true to life. We then decided that our narrative would be something true to life that people can relate to.

This question was important as it helped us decide if we were going to have a male or female star in our music video. The results of this question were a even split so we decide to have a music video with a male and female artist.

This question was important as it showed me how important having notion of looking my music video. The results show that more people like to have notion of looking in a music video than don't. However I have decided to challenge this and not include notion of looking in my music video.

Importance of critical feedback after finishing my production:
After we finished the productions feedback is important as it shows what we did well. This we have achieved what we set out to achieve when making our video and if our target audience enjoyed it.

Why did we put our video on YouTube?
We put our finished product on YouTube to get feedback from the public for our evaluation and to store our finished work for the examiner so it can be viewed at anytime. Also YouTube is the biggest and most popular way to share your videos on the internet so will get it a lot of publicity.

Positive feedback:
1. Really impressed with this piece of work
2. Could feel the tension build up gradually within the narrative between the two characters. I liked how isolated and fragile the female came across and her performance was really good. The guys performance and image was also very conventional to the RnB/Soul genre. The red colour in your scenes allowed us to pre-empt the violence to occur.

Negative feedback:
1. The lip singing was off on some parts of the music video
2. I think it was a police cell the guy was in, but at times you could tell it wasn't a cell and the corner of the room. Liked how it was filmed though.

What did I learn from the YouTube comments in term of weather you created a conventional and successful music video?
I learned that a lot of people are impressed by the video and think it is really good and just like a song from our chosen genre and have found that some of the locations could of been better and we could of touched up the lip syncing to make sure it was all on point.

My vid on Facebook:

Facebook comments:
Some comments I received from Facebook are:

"Great video editing was done very well to the beat of the song."

"Great video matches the genre very well."

"Locations chosen could of been better."

"Lighting in scenes could of been better."

Why did I put my video on Facebook?
I put my music video on Facebook as it is a massive social network where people share things with their friends. This means people can view and share our video and give us a lot of publicity and feedback from them.

Positives feedback:
1. Great video editing was done very well to the beat of the song.
2. Great video matches the genre very well.

Negative feedback:
1. Locations chosen could of been better.
2. Lighting in scenes could of been better.

What did I learn from the Facebook comments in term of weather you created a conventional and successful music video?
From Facebook I learned we have edited it well to the beat of the song and it looks conventional to our genre and I learned we could of had better locations and have better lighting in our scenes.

Sound cloud focus group feedback:

Why did you hold a focus group?
We held a focus group to view our finished work and give us feedback on what we did well and what we could improve on in the future.

Positive comments:
1.The boy playing Kendrick played his role very well and his lip syncing was very good.
2.The editing was done very well and complements the genre.

Negative comments:
1.Scene where the guy was meant to look like he was in prison didn't look like he was in prison.
2.Black & Whit causes loss of quality.

What did I learn from the focus group comments in terms of weather you created a conventional and successful music video?

I learned that the focus group think that the video is very conventional to the genre that we have choosen so we have been successful in making a conventional music video for our chosen genre.

Focus group images:

I used a large range of different types of media to promote my music video. This was to gain as much feedback for my product as possible in order to determine that it was conventional, and also met the expectations of the audience.
The feedback on my video was mostly good however people have said there is room for improvements. As the producer of this video I understand where Ken one of the people giving feedback was coming from when he said the video lost quality when black & white as I could also see a drop in quality. I think we could of maybe touch it up abit more and include better locations for the video. The feedback I received about my music video has helped me and if I could create it again, I would plan these elements I have discussed with more detail to createa successful professional music video for the audience to enjoy.
